I Voted

Ok! Voted! There! Done!
Ugh, I hate this election. They are both such poor candidates for the job. Just like a few years back- and look where that got us. Anyway, I bit the bullet, decided on my choice, gruelling by the way, and voted. (did you see all those commas back there? Getting a little carried away) Anyway, my political views are a bit unpopular- especially with the Mormon set- so if you want to hear my big idea on the voting thing, ask me when you see me.
I'm a total moderate and like different things from different parties, so it's always a hard decision for me to make because while I like something they stand for, I don't like something else that they are sticking by. So it's kinda hard. Good luck all you voters!
I was kinda happy about the turnout so far- I always do my early voting at the same mall. There has been a whole lot more people in line this election! Yay for more people voting! I hope youngish people (maybe like me- I'm not sure if I fit into the youth vote or not anymore) are finally getting to the polls.

  3. Ok, here's the theory. I like what Obama says, (except the taxing the "rich" thing- those people employ us people and would just drive prices up) anyway, the other things Obama is saying are great, but not the way he has voted as a senator. So he's hard to believe. But he'll get us out of the war- which I'm all for. Basically, McCain just sucks and has no plans that he's divulging about how to go forward in Iraq and how to solve the economy. So IF McCain wins, not only are we stuck with him for 4 years, we'll have him up in the next election- perhaps against Hillary again, which she may win- way worse than Obama. So let's try out Obama for 4 years, and hopefully get better candidates (not McCain) next time! I hope that all makes sense.

  5. *shocked silence* obama? really? i mean, i kinda figured when you said your views weren't popular with the mormon crowd, but obama? don't get me wrong, i don't like mccain either, he's crowd pleaser, but obama is a snake in the grass. he's only got two years in the senate, and he's done a super crappy job with illinois, do we really want to trust him with the presidency? he says a whole lot of nothing. we need change!! sure we do, but he never specifies. he wants big government; universal healthcare and a whole plethura of exceedingly bad ideas. these are my views on the subject; please don't take offense and think i'm trying to yell at you or something!! i'm just telling you my side of things. like i said, i don't like mccain either, he's a big ole wuss, but i like palin. and i'm not for getting out of the war. we're almost done, it would be dumb to pull out now when we are so close to conclusion. wether you were for or against in the beginning is moot at this point; we're there, let's finish up. also, obama is for demilitarizion (sp?). my whole being shudders at the very thought. have we forgotten 9/11? why on earth would we want to scale back our forces? has the world gotten more peaceful? less dangerous perhaps? i see no evidence of this. and he's also for taking guns away from citizens. now, i know that criminals own guns, and that's a bad thing, but i think that the everyday citizen has every right to defend himself. is that not one of the very basic corner stones to this country? is that not one of the very things our forefathers fought, bled and died for? and he's pro-abortion, pro-gay marriage, and many other things that our religion is very much against! i hate to drag religion into it, i think that religion is personal, but i think that these big issues are important as well. anyway, sorry, this is a hot button for me. and i'm still not sure which way i'm going to jump. i still have a few more days of research ahead of me; i'm going to make the most of it. i am supremely unhappy with all of our candidates this election; except perhaps palin. too bad she wasn't a presidential nominee! anyway, feel free to rebut! i'd love to hear more, really i would. i hope i haven't offended here, i tend to get passionate, but that doesn't mean that i feel your viewpoint is any less valid than mine. and arguing with people of a different view (as long as no one loses their tempers that is) is how we learn right? at least it's that way for me. ;)

  6. Yeah, I don't really like Palin- AT ALL! She plays down to the lowest common denominator. You do know there are intellectual conservatives, right?! Palin has no business even being nominated for VP. She's got even less experience than Obama! just being used as a pawn by McCain. I really hate that they just picked an obscure woman just to lure Hillary voters over. They didn't even find one that had credentials. Just someone who would look good in an expensive suit!

  7. i'm not sure what you mean by intellectual conservatives...please clarify. and i like palin...i'm not sure she's president material, but i like her better than the two jokers they nominated! and duh, of course they put her in the vp nominate because she's a girl. she's supposed to balance out obama's race, which i think is just stupid, but there ya have it. i seriously hate this whole election. they gave us just about the worst possible candidates EVER. we have no one to choose from for president, and most of the people running for lesser offices are crap too. what we really really need, i think, are people who are NOT career politicians. but about palin, i know she doesn't have much experience (neither does obama after all), and i know the reasons they picked her, but i don't think she's towing the party line on this one. i like what i've seen and heard of her. she sticks to her guns, and doesn't worry about who she offends. UNlike mccain. i may not agree with everything on her platform (although i agree with more than either of the actual candidates), but i like that she's not afraid to speak her mind. and yeah, i can read between the lines and figure out that she's mouthing platitudes as far as her support for mccain goes. she supports him because he nominated her for vp. but i really think she balances out his butt-kissing.
